The charger itself
Most installers quote labor and materials separately from the charger. Tesla lists the Universal Wall Connector at $660.[6] One Utah electrician's 2026 guide lists the standard Tesla Wall Connector at $475 and other popular Level 2 chargers at about $400 to $900.[2] Prices change often.
What drives the price
- Panel capacity. Spare capacity means a simple circuit; no capacity means load management or an upgrade.
- Distance and route from the panel to the parking spot, through finished walls, an attic, a crawlspace or a trench.
- Amperage. A 60-amp circuit for a 48-amp charger needs heavier wire than a 40-amp circuit.
- Indoor vs. outdoor. Outdoor-rated fittings, mounting and possibly a pedestal.
- Permit and utility coordination, especially for service upgrades.
Running costs
On Rocky Mountain Power's time-of-use option, off-peak base energy is 6.6111¢ to 7.4705¢ per kWh, so a 1,000-mile month (about 300 kWh) costs roughly $20 to $22 in base energy before surcharges.[7] Bountiful and Kaysville residents pay their municipal utility's tiered rates instead.[8][9] Details are in the 2026 rebate & rate guide.
